NWC urging customers to pay water bills
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The National Water Commission is encouraging its customers to avoid the inconvenience of disconnected service during the Yuletide season by making arrangements to settle outstanding balances.
According to the NWC, over the past couple of months it has aggressively stepped up its revenue recovery efforts in a bid to collect monies owing.
Revenue Recovery Manager for Kingston, St Andrew and St Thomas Ferdinand Kennedy stated that the recovery efforts have been met with tremendous success, with customers either opting to clear balances after initial warnings or in most cases through prosecutions.
Kennedy said that the team will be redoubling its revenue activities in the new year and is advising customers with arrears to seek to engage the commission through negotiated settlements.
The most recent revenue activities for the Kingston and St Andrew region resulted in seven people being brought before the courts for arrears totalling over $1.3 million.
