Jermaine “Tuffy” Anderson is again playing in the Red Stripe Premier League.

The former Reggae Boyz and Waterhouse FC player donned the colours of Boys’ Town’s “Red Bridage” on Wednesday in his first game of the season and first top-flight game in years.

Given the nod to start by Andrew Price, Anderson was his usual bustling self, giving the Montego Bay United defenders a lot to think about and a lot to do as he set himself about on the field.

Though failing to find the back of the net, Anderson showed that he still has the powerful shot in his right leg, as a few of his thunderbolts whistled not far from goal.

While admitting to not being 100 per cent fit, Anderson was grateful for the opportunity to be back playing in the Premier League.

“I am about 75-80 per cent fit and I am thankful for that, but it was a good first game for me back in the Premier League. It is a good point for the team and my first game with them. My job is to motivate them [as] we can’t give up and we put up a good fight against a good Mobay (United) team,” he stated.

He was, however, a little bit disappointed with not getting a win, especially at home.

“It is unfortunate that we did not win, but we have to keep working hard and it will come. I never say die, so we have to keep working hard and I am happy to be back in the league. I enjoyed my game today. We could have won the game in the last minute,” Anderson added.

The 38-year-old believes that time and belief will see Boys’ Town get out of the predicament as they are currently at the foot of the table.

“We just have to go back to the drawing board. It will come, we just have to take it one game at a time. Come Sunday, we will see what can happen,” he said.

Coach Andrew Price was happy with the performance of his team after the debacle against Cavalier last Sunday where they scored first and ended up losing the match 1-4.

“I think they played well enough. I am a little disappointed [as] I really wanted to get all three points. We are in a position now where we really need to get as much points as possible, but I can’t fault the players for the display they gave today (Wednesday).

“They played against a very good MoBay team, a talented front line with good fast players, and I think we dealt with them defensively pretty well,” noted Price.

The coach was also impressed by how much his new signee was able to give in his first game back in the premiership.

“Jermaine Anderson, playing his first game for us this season, I think he played a good game and I think as he plays more matches he will get a lot fitter. He looked sharp today and I was kinda surprised that he played so deep into the second half,” Price affirmed.

The Boys’ Town head coach is not about to throw in the towel and believes that the performance against Montego Bay United is something to build on going into the third round of the competition.

“The effort the players gave today (Wednesday) is the type of effort we are going to need when the third round starts on Sunday, and we really need to start picking up three points as much as possible,” stated Price.

Boys’ Town picked up a miserly 13 points from their first 22 games of the season and will have to go on a monumental run in the third round to avoid relegation as they now sit 10 points from safety.
