Entering the Mas Camp last Saturday night for the Triple Threat edition of the popular retro party series Mello Vibes, patrons didn’t experience a major challenge as the lines moved efficiently.

Once inside, it was hard to resist the intoxicating musical vibe. As the hours went by, the venue swelled with patrons who partied till way pass 4:00 am.

“This is an event that I try not to miss. As a matter of fact, I am at all the old-school parties. The music is just pulsating,” said patron Michelle Ching.

For Gerald Burgess, the females held his attention all night.

“The music is good, but I must admit that it’s the females that I am here for. Mello Vibes to di world,” he said, before moving off to dance with a female who was standing by herself.

Mello Vibes Triple Threat was a retro music fan’s delight. Promoted by GLK Entertainment, the event kicked off with disco music from the 1970s to the 1990s, courtesy of DJ Malik. He continued the hit streak, unleashing songs featuring reggae vocalists from the same period.

Up next was DJ Marvin from Kool FM who continued the momentum as he unleashed a plethora of pop songs, disco, and reggae from the 1980s.

Not to be outdone, DJ Nicco saddled up and came specifically to cater to the females. Armed with dancehall nuggets from the 80s and 90s, specifically ‘matie’ songs, he reigned supreme. Songs from the catalogues of Nadine Sutherland, Spragga Benz, Lady Saw and others, kept the vibes flowing.

Krazy Kris attempted to cool down the heat left by DJ Nicco by mixing up a tasty broth of soul-stirring music from the late 1970s and 1980s, but this was short-lived as he pulled for dancehall hits from the likes of Simpleton, Joseph Stepper, Sizzla, Capleton and Super Cat to continue the musical mayhem.

Goodaz Fi Dem by Tony Matterhorn and Vegas’ I am Blessed were thrown in for good measure.

Mello Vibes, certainly had good vibes.
