LUCEA, Hanover — Zone leaders Reggae Youths and Faulkland FC could move closer to securing their places in the mid-season final of the Jamaica Football Federation Western Confederation/Charley’s JB Rum Super League, if they can score repeat wins over Montego Bay Boys Club and Grand Palladium FC, as the second round continues today with a full slate of six games.

Reggae Youths lead Zone One with 17 points, six more than second-placed Harmony FC and, depending on other results, a win could see them securing a return to the mid-season final that they won last year.

Faulkland FC are on 16 points in Zone Two, just three ahead of Wadadah FC and Grand Palladium, but three points today would give them some more space at the top.

Last week both Wadadah FC and Granville United benefited from decisions of the competitions committee, awarded points from games that were not played.

Wadadah FC got points from Clarks Town who failed to field a team to start their rescheduled game on Wednesday, while Granville United got two awards — from Clarks Town and last week when Roaring River failed to provide adequate security for their home game at Petersfield.

Today Faulkland FC will face a confident Grand Palladium FC team at Colin Miller Sports Complex, as they seek to rebound from their first loss in the competition, going down 0-1 to Wadadah FC last weekend.

Grand Palladium FC, who were promoted this season and who are unbeaten in their last four games since they were defeated 3-0 by Faulkland FC in a first-round game, will hope home field advantage can work in their favour.

Grand Palladium FC are however vulnerable at the back, despite their positive results, and have given up 12 goals including three against Clarks Town in a seven-goal shoot-out last week.

Faulkland FC’s 20 goals scored are the most by any team. They were held without scoring just once all year and will be smarting from last weekend’s loss, going all out to get back to winning ways.

Reggae Youths have a six-point lead and could secure their place in the mid-season final if they win and second-place Harmony FC fail to win their game against Beaches Negril.

The Oscar Irving-coached Reggae Youths came back from a goal down to beat Catherine Hall 3-2 last week and will be on a high as they face Montego Bay Boys Club, who were also winners on Sunday, beating Beaches Negril 2-1 for their second victory in the season and still occupy a spot at the foot of the points table in Zone One.

Reggae Youths had won the first-round game 3-1 and will pose a major hurdle for Boys Club, who have struggled all season long and have yet to establish a rhythm.

Harmony FC and Beaches Negril, who drew 0-0 in the first round and are separated by one point, will meet at Bounty Hall as they both battle for second place behind Reggae Youths.

Fresh from their big win over Faulkland FC last weekend, Wadadah FC should get the better of a Granville United team that has failed to get a win on their field all year.

Wadadah FC are still in contention for a place in the mid-season final and will take on a Granville United team that has managed just three goals and has given up 10.

Harmony FC are in second place on 11 points, one more than Beaches Negril, who are in contention despite only scoring seven goals in seven games, the least in the zone.

Catherine Hall, who returned to the Super League this season, have lost their last three games and five overall, and will host the improving Hopewell United at Irwin High.

Catherine Hall have only won one of their four games at Irwin High, but had beaten Hopewell United away and will be going after a sweep over their Hanover opponents.
