Dubbed as one of the most anticipated events of the year, the annual Bob Marley Birthday Celebration was held at the reggae king’s former Hope Road residence in St Andrew on Tuesday. The event left music fans on a cultural high as promised.

Reggae singjay Fantan Mojah was one of several artistes who graced the stage at this historic event.

Delivering a set comprising of tracks including Only Jah Love, Stronger, Hungry, and Nuh Build Great Man, Fantan Mojah had local and international patrons begging for an encore after he closed his set.

“It was a pleasure to be invited to celebrate and honour the life of a legend on Tuesday. Bob Marley paved the way for reggae artistes such as myself and I had to go on the stage and give the fans a world-class performance,” said Fantan Mojah.

“To be able to perform for fans from various demographics is truly a blessing because when you appeal to different age groups and cultural backgrounds with your music, you know the legend would have been proud if he was here to witness it himself,” he continued.

During his set, Fantan Mojah paid his respects to Bob Marley as a humanitarian, acknowledging the good he has done for various people and the work his foundation continues to do for those in need.

“There are musicians who don’t look back once they have made it to the big time, but Bob made sure he was always giving back, even after he passed on. He is truly a blessing from Jah,” he said.

Marley died on May 11, 1981 of cancer. He was 36. He would have turned 73 on Tuesday.
