WITH the mayhem caused by the passage of hurricanes Irma and Maria in the US Virgin Islands last year, singer Jahman is seeking to inspire and provide encouragement with the single Sometimes.

“The inspiration behind Sometimes is life. It was written to encourage, inspire and uplift. If your self-esteem is low, no matter what you it is that you are through you must keep pushing forward. It doesn’t matter how you start, it’s how you finish. Along the way it’s going to be rocky and you will meet trials and tribulations. Hold on to what you believe in which is yourself and your structure,” he told Jamaica Observer.

Sometimes is produced by John “John FX” Crawford. It was recorded prior to the hurricanes passage but was released this week. It is from his album Altitude which is set for a digital release later this month.

“The response has been nice and really encouraging. We started recording before the hurricanes passed through the Virgin Islands last year. Right after the storms we continued again, and it became the thesis/concept for the song. It’s personal, to the people of the Virgin Islands. Through social media the outpouring of love and appreciation for the song has been extreme,” said Jahman.

Jahman hails rom St Thomas and has been doing music professionally for some time now. He has worked with producers including Sly Dunbar and Robbie Shakespeare, Earl ‘Chinna’ Smith, and Danny Biggs.

“My musical journey is my life. It’s something that has been embedded in me from I was young. I knew music was my calling, through the years I knew that reggae would be a major influence. Without music there is no Jahman. Every song I’ve written or performed tells a chapter of my story of my life. I’ve been in this for quite a while and with every song I feel I have learnt and grown more as an artiste,” he said.
