Plans in high gear for ‘Trelawny Got Soul’
DUNCANS, Trelawny — Plans are in high gear for the 2018 staging of the ‘Trelawny Got Soul’ concert, which will be held for the first time at the historic Kettering Baptist Church in Duncans after last year’s staging at the Trelawny Multi-Purpose Stadium.
Veteran singer George Nooks will be among the slew of performers at the Trelawny’s premier family-oriented gospel event scheduled to be held on Saturday, May 19.
Other acts will include Sterling Gospel Award Winner Kevin Heath, Rian “Testify” Davis, Gospel Queen Sister Patt, Esrick “Morgie” Morgan, Dr Micheal “Medikal” Godfrey and Nicholas “Apostle” Bowford. They will be backed by the TGS Band, while Mr Handsome and Kazan will be entrusted with emcee duties.
The line-up last year included the likes of Lt Stitchie and Mr Vegas. Part proceeds from this year’s event will go towards the refurbishing of the Kettering Baptist Church, as well as its music and food distribution projects.
The Praise Party, which is a pre-concert activity geared towards the younger crowd, and set to begin at 5:00 pm will be hosted by leading western Jamaica Gospel DJ, Ventura “DJ Chinny” Crosdale, while the main event gets underway at 7:00 pm.
Chief organiser of ‘Trelawny Got Soul’, Julia Meikle Ben-Nyah, is urging members of all denominations to attend the event.
“We are inviting all church youth groups from all denominations in Trelawny and neighbouring parishes to turn out in their numbers to ‘tun up the praise’,” she expressed.
The Women’s Federation and Men’s Brotherhood of the Kettering Baptist Church will provide food and refreshments for sale.
Admission for the event is $1,000 for adults and $500 for children.
