Reggae singer Droop Lion believes that music can assist in quelling Jamaica’s murder rate, so he is advocating for more live music entertainment events in Clarendon.

“Music is a powerful tool to create harmony in the community. Montego Bay in St James has Sumfest, Clarendon should have an annual show that can help bring communities together. Reggae and dancehall shows can create a leverage to change the minds of people, you see no killing no gwaan ah Clarendon since the show gwaan weekend,” he said.

More than 70 people have been killed in that parish since the start of the year.

Droop Lion said the government and corporate Jamaica can do more to create harmony by creating entertainment venues and events to foster harmony.

“A whole lot of crime a gwaan inna Clarendon, and I see my role as one of public education to help tackle crime and violence against the weak. we as artistes are supposed to bring people on a level with the music and create a feeling between the heartbeat that can cause change; the authorities need to build more venues for events like this in Clarendon which is the middle of Jamaica,” he said.

Droop Lion performed at the Summer Sizzle Festival at the Jamalco Sports Club last weekend.

He is scheduled to head to Europe for media tour beginning September 3 that will take him to Germany, France, the Netherlands, and the UK as he continues to promote his Ideologies album.

“We will be releasing a music video for Modern Day Slavery the next track from the album, next month as well,” he said.

His other songs include Peace Perfect Peace, Freeway, Pray For Them, and Ghetto Life.
