Jamaica Customs seizes ganja worth J$875K at Kingston port
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Ganja weighing 175 pounds, with an estimated street value of J$875,500, was reportedly seized at the Port of Kingston yesterday by the Jamaica Customs Agency (JCA).
According to the JCA, the drugs was discovered during a routine sweep of the port by officers from the agency’s Contraband Enforcement Team, alongside officers from the Jamaica Constabulary Force’s (JCF) Narcotics Division, and port security.
During the sweep three duffle bags containing 99 parcels of vegetable matter that was confirmed to be marijuana, along with a bolt cutter were observed on the ground in the container yard, the JCA said in a release.
No arrests have been made in connection with the seizure. The matter is currently being investigated by the JCA and the JCF.
