KINGSTON, Jamaica — Three contracts valued more than $269 million have been approved by Cabinet for the supply and delivery of petrol and medical gases, and for the rehabilitation of the Gayle multipurpose centre in St Mary.

This was disclosed by Minister of Education, Youth and Information, Senator Ruel Reid, during yesterday’s post-Cabinet press briefing at Jamaica House.

Of the sum, $136.7 million will go to Gulfstream Petroleum SRL for the supply and delivery of 986,483 litres of automotive diesel oil and 54,522 litres of super unleaded 90-octane gasoline to the Errol Flynn Boatyard in Port Antonio, Portland, for a two-year period.

Also, an $85.1-million contract has been awarded to Marshall Construction Company Limited to undertake phase one of the rehabilitation and expansion work at the Gayle multipurpose centre in St Mary.

The remaining $47.5 million is for the variation of a contract originally awarded by the Western Regional Health Authority to Industrial Gas Limited (IGL) for the supply of medical gases.

“This is in keeping with recommendations of the National Contracts Commission for the variation,” Reid said.
