The Nail Whisperer

The Nail Whisperer

The Nail Whisperer

Local dispensers of the Dazzle Dry nail system, Unwind Distributors, invited VB Cosmetics Director of Education Silva Nahabedian to The Rock recently to talk nail health. Dazzle Dry, the multi-award-winning holistic approach to nail care, is the brainchild of VB Cosmetics founder Dr Vivian Valenty, a bio-organic chemist who invented gel polish in the ’80s, and has decided to do away with the harmful chemicals, products, and producers of a typical mani session at the salon/spa. Under the Dryer and a collection of local nail technicians filled the Somerset Suite at the Courtleigh Hotel & Suites to get the scoop.

Silva Nahabedian is a natural nail care guru with a cult following who swear by her method. Allure magazine named her the best manicurist in LA, so, naturally, she had lots to share about Dazzle Dry, including holistic nail trend insights, the science of nail care, and tips to grow a nail care business.

Nahabedian, who is also a master cuticle care course instructor, shared a few tips for general nail and product care…

TIPS:

– Clean dried polish from the neck of the bottles to prevent air bubbles getting into your polish, and to maintain the polish’s consistency.

– Dazzle Dry Revive acts as a thinner and can be used to regain fluidity in lacquer caused by drying.

– When you see air bubbles or strands/wisps, this simply means the top coat is too thick. This is the perfect time to apply a few drops of Dazzle Dry Revive or nail thinner.

– Never file nails in an up-down or side-to-motion, instead file in one-directional soft strokes off the sides of the nail body to achieve the perfect shape.

Dazzle Dry features in 1, 2, 3, 4

1. Nail Prep

– designed to cleanse, sanitise, and moisturise the nail while preparing it for optimal nail polish adhesion.

– it is infused with provitamin B5, calcium and hydrolysed wheat protein

– fortifies the nail with nutrients that promote good nail health.

– Never use alcohol, acetone, scrub fresh, bond aid or other promoters to prep the nail as this over-dehydrates the nail and can adversely impact adhesion.

2. Base Coat

– cold temps can cause base coat to get cloudy. This is not a defect; it’s by design. It should be clear as water. To achieve this, close cap tightly and run under hot water or set in a shallow bowl of hot water until it becomes completely clear without any cloudy sediment.

– It is scientifically proven, Dazzle Dry stays longer on natural nails and is not recommended for acrylic nails, though it has been used successfully in some salons.

3. Nail Lacquer

– delivers the longest wear available in trendy cremes, shimmers, and glitters

– designed to be used with the complete Dazzle Dry system only.

4. Top Coat

– Top coat is non-yellowing, quick drying, long-wearing, and self-levelling

– if there are any minor imperfections in the polish application, the top coat self-levels and smooths it out.

Artsy Nails

In addition to a live demo and certification course at the recent holistic nail wellness forum, Artsy Nails found out what shade of polish Nahabedian wears on the regular. FYI: She wore Forbidden Passion when she spoke to UTD. Nahabedian’s top five are…

1. Rapid Red

2. White Lightning

3. Peacefully Me

4. Broadway Beige

5. Cherry Parfait
