RHODES HALL, Hanover — Defending champions Herbert Morrison Technical are on a roll with back-to-back big wins in the ISSA Western Conference boys basketball competition after hammering home side Rhodes Hall on Thursday.

Herbert Morrison, the national champions in the Under-19 section, won 93-48 in the seniors, following a massive 105-5 victory in the Under-16 section.

On Tuesday they had beaten York Castle 57-45 and 75-30 in the Under-19 and Under 16 games, respectively.

Also on Tuesday, William Knibb Memorial got their first wins of the season, both by forfeit against Muschett High, who failed to show for both the Under-16 and Under-19 games scheduled for William Knibb.

On Thursday at Rhodes Hall, David Gordon had a double-double with 57 points and 18 rebounds to lead Herbert Morrison Technical, who raced to a double-digit lead after the first quarter, leading 16-6 and were then up by 25 points at half-time at 44-19. They then extended the lead to 40 points (69-29) going into the fourth quarter.

Kevin Smith scored 16 points for Herbert Morrison as well, while Darren King scored nine.

Three players combined for almost all of Rhodes Hall’s points with Akeem Davis leading the way with 18 points, Javani Davis scored 13 points and Omardo Brown scored 11 points.

The Under-16 game was brutal as Rhodes Hall scored one point in the first half and had to wait until the fourth quarter to get the other four.

Three players had double-doubles led by Anthony Thorpe’s 31 points and 12 steals and seven rebounds, Dennis Dawes scored one point and had 10 rebounds, Tajiel Brown scored 12 points and had 10 steals, while Taj Hewitt scored 21 points.

On Tuesday at York Castle, David Gordon led all scorers in the Under-19 game with 23 points and six rebounds for Herbert Morrison as they scored a 12-point victory.

Smith also scored in double figures for Herbert Morrison with 18 points as the visitors led 18-11 and 34-26 after the first two quarters and extended the margin to 45-34 after the third quarter.

Reuel Richards scored 20 points to lead York Castle, while Alex Fang scored nine points and Ihejah Clarke scored seven points.

In the Under-16 game, Anthony Thorpe had a triple-double with a career-high 48 points, 12 steals and 11 rebounds as Hewitt added 17 points in the lop sided 45-point win.

It was total domination by Herbert Morrison as York Castle only managed double digits scoring as a team in one of the four quarters; Herbert Morrison led 15-7, 39-11 and 54-23 at the end of the first three quarters.

Lennon Richard had a double-double for York Castle, just missing a triple-double by one rebound scoring 17 points and getting 11 blocked shots and nine rebounds.
