After first win Lady Blue set sights on Burger King Super Day
AFTER finishing second behind Corazon in her first competitive effort, Lady Blue made amends and romped home easily in a maiden special weight event at Caymanas Park over four furlongs (800m) straight on Wednesday, October 31.
Lady Blue made her debut on October 13 but found Corazon too hot to handle and finished ¾ length adrift.
Racing on Wednesday last (October 31, 2018), the Blue Pepsi Lodge – The Vibes Lady offspring set off in front and made every post a winning one in a good time of 46.2.
“ Lady Blue ran a game race first time out but was overtaken by a better horse, Corazon. Today (Wednesday), it was a mediocre field and she was able to dictate from early and that was that.
“She is a sprinter, she is bred to sprint but the jockey (Anthony Thomas) told me that she felt like she can go a little distance and so we are hopeful,” trainer Wayne DaCosta revealed.
DaCosta then informed that his chestnut filly might race on the Burger King-sponsored Super Day on November 10.
“We might run her in the Juvenile Sprint on Superstakes day. The race is a bit too close but we will see how it goes,” he said.
Lady Blue, under a tight grip from Thomas, shot to the lead at the start of the race ahead of Just Trick Me (Wesley Henry). Passing the dummy rails, Thomas urged his mount a bit and Lady Blue began to draw away from the field to run out an easy winner.
