Following Juice Man’s win in a Restricted Allowance event on Ash Wednesday (March 6, 2019), trainer Anthony Nunes informed that his speedy three-year-old might have raced for the last time on local soil. The bay colt is scheduled to hit the shores of Trinidad and Tobago by the end of this month.

“Well, the truth of the matter is that Juice Man is supposed to go down to Trinidad at the end of this month. The run on Ash Wednesday may be his last in Jamaica.

“There has been some turmoil going on in Trinidad with their racing where there is a bit of uncertainty with their product at the moment, so I don’t know if the owners are going to change their minds — but as I stand before you right now, the last thing I was told was that Juice Man will be put on a plane before the month is up,” Nunes indicated to The Supreme Racing Guide.

Ridden by Robert Halledeen, Juice Man ( Storm Craft – Passion) got the better of Dyna’s Pride (Dane Nelson) and Action Run (Simon Husbands) by three parts of a length in the native-bred three-year-old non-winners of two event that included imported three-year-old and upward maidens.

Owned by Rawdon Persad, Juice Man ran five furlongs (1,000m) on the round course in a good 1:00.0, with splits of 23.0 and 46.1.

“He ( Juice Man) ran well and he has won two five-round races and we were hoping that he would be on the Classic trail, but I think we have a sprinter on our hands,” Nunes indicated.

Action Run caught the break and went to the lead, with Juice Man and Special Counsel (Tevin Foster) chasing.

When the runners found their footing running the half mile turn, Juice Man went into the lead and brought the runners into the lane.

Halledeen then asked his mount to really run in deep stretch and eventually held off the fast-finishing Dyna’s Pride, who went wide at the top of the lane, and Action Man who finished third.
