The Michros-owned and Gary Subratie trained three-year-old dark bay American-bred colt, Bold Aflair, despite few niggling issues, made good in a three-year-old and upward – imported three-year-old and upward (non-winners of 3) lifetime and native-bred three-year-old field of six runners to give a glimpse of being a developing campaigner with a gutsy 3/4 length victory going 1,000 metres straight at Caymanas Park on Saturday, May 11, 2019.

Running for the first time coming down the straight, Bold Aflair completed the distance in 1:00.1 to register his second career win from five starts to leave non-winners of two behind.

Champion jockey Anthony Thomas, who had the leg-up on Bold Aflair for the first time in a competitive event, said he was pleased with the colt’s performance and having already opened his winning account with a victory on the round course going 1,300 metres, added that he was satisfied that this latest performance gives the impression that Bold Aflair is one to watch going forward .

“ Bold Aflair does have good ability and in today’s race (Saturday) he felt like he had more in the tank. During the race, I just sat in the catbird’s seat and watched the leaders and when they started to come back, I then made my move to get the win,” Thomas shared.

Bold Aflair ( Bold Warrior – Affair with Aflair) came from behind runners in the final stages of the race to beat Custer (Oneil Mullings) by 3/4 length in a driving finish.

Ricky Ricardo (Abigail Able) also came from behind to snatch third place.

The splits were 22.4 and 45.3.
