OnePlus has revealed its new addition to its smartphone line-up. This device represents OnePlus’ commitment to providing a flagship smartphone experience at a fraction of the cost of some competitors.

The OnePlus 7T is a follow-up to the OnePlus 7 released earlier this year. OnePlus has had a tick-tock release cycle with its phones for a while. The company releases a “T” variant device update, with some improvements after each new device launched a few months before. The new OnePlus 7T brings improvements to the screen, camera setup, chipset and more.

The new device has a 6.55-inch, 1080p+, OLED display with that refreshes at 90 hertz. OnePlus calls it Fluid AMOLED, which is the same technology used on the more expensive OnePlus 7 Pro. The screen maxes out at 1000 nits and supports HDR10+ content for enhanced dynamic range when watching certain content. It has a slightly taller screen with a 20:9 aspect ratio, up from the 19.5:9 on the OnePlus 7 and comes with a similar in-display fingerprint sensor.

The OnePlus 7T comes with big upgrades in the camera department. The new, triple camera setup (on the back) boasts a 48 MP, f/1.6, main camera, a 12 MP telephoto camera with 2X optical zoom and a 16 MP ultrawide camera with 117° field of view.

The camera also comes with Nightscape. This

is OnePlus’ mode for shooting in low light. The main camera and the ultrawide

will be able to use the feature to brighten pictures taken in low-light.

There’s also a new Macro-mode for close-up shots that can focus on objects as

close as 2.5cm from the camera. There’s also a 16 MP front-facing camera housed

in a teardrop style notch.  The camera has

Portrait mode that takes selfies and artificially blurs the background so

subjects stand out.

The device is powered by a Snapdragon 855+ processor and runs Android 10 out of the box. The experience is customised by OnePlus’ own Oxygen OS that is heavily optimised for fluidity and speed. The device also comes with either 128 or 256 GB of Universal Flash Storage (UFS) 3.0 coupled with 8 GB RAM for each.

OnePlus packed a 3,800 mAh battery in the 7T up from 3,700 mAh in the 7. This should provide okay battery life for day to day tasks like taking pictures and gaming. Sadly, there’s still no wireless charging, but If your battery runs low there’s nothing to fear as the 7T supports Warp Charge 30T.

This technology promises to charge a OnePlus 7T from 0 to 70% in about 30 minutes. Warp Charge 30T provides a 23% increase over the previous 30 watts charging standard. So, gamers and other power users can get a quick power-up when the battery gets low.

The device will retail for $599 USD and

will be available on October 18.
