Surgeons donate $2 million to Jamaica Cancer Society
The Jamaica Cancer Society’s (JCS) prostate cancer programme has received a well-needed injection of funds from the Association of Surgeons in Jamaica (ASJ).
Last Friday the ASJ presented a cheque for $2 million to the JCS during a ceremony at the Tony Thwaites Wing of the University Hospital of West Indies.
The proceeds were from the ASJ’s annual Scrubs 3/0 all-inclusive party, held in March at the Mona Visitors’ Lodge and Conference Centre.
The funds will be used to bolster the JCS’s prostate cancer prevention programmes.
To date, the association has donated more than $4 million to the Jamaica Cancer Society. JN Bank is a major sponsor of the annual Scrubs event.
