Defending champions Cornwall College and St George’s College will renew their rivalry in one of four mouth-watering ISSA Champions Cup knockout competition quarter-final fixtures across venues this weekend.

The fixtures were revealed yesterday in a live draw on SportsMax.

With five urban teams and three rural area teams remaining in the four-week long tournament, dubbed the “Champions League of Schoolboy Football”, the balance could be shifted after Saturday’s round of games at the Montego Bay Sports Complex in Catherine Hall and Stadium East in Kingston.

Both venues are expected to be buzzing with excitement and entertainment, as the battle for the coveted title hits top gear.

Following their contrasting 1-0 and 6-2 victories over Charlie Smith and BB Coke, respectively, Cornwall College and St George’s College will once again duel in a repeat of last year’s semi-final clash, which should again be a keenly contested feature game at Catherine Hall scheduled for 6:30 pm. Cornwall College won last year’s meeting 2-0.

Before that, reigning Manning Cup champions Kingston College and Frome Technical will meet at 4:00 pm.

The Ludlow Bernard-coached Kingston College team were comfortable 2-0 winners over Garvey Maceo, while Frome edged Camperdown 5-4.

Meanwhile, reigning daCosta Cup champions Clarendon College will journey to Kingston for a 4:00 pm meeting with St Andrew Technical High School (STATHS), while Jamaica College and Excelsior will meet in the 6:30 pm feature at Stadium East.

A good contest is in the making between Clarendon College, who were comfortable 2-0 winners over Wolmer’s Boys and STATHS, who clipped Mannings 2-1, while Jamaica College, who hammered McGrath High 7-0, should start as favourites against Excelsior, who edged Dinthill Technical 4-3 on penalties.
