Bruce Wayne came running on in a non-restricted Overnight Allowance (three-year-olds and upwards) run to win The Pick-3 Five Play Everyday Trophy in the closing call on the 10-race card at Caymanas Park on Saturday (November 30). This win by Bruce Wayne helped his title-chasing trainer Anthony Nunes to keep a firm grip on the trainers’ championship.

The five-year-old gelded son of Nuclear Wayne, after throwing in a clinker in the recent Diamond Mile, returned to his happy hunting ground to level the 14-horse field by 1 1/4 lengths in a 1,300 metres gallop.

Owned jointly by Stephan Narinesingh and Nunes, Bruce Wayne was sent off as the 2-1 popular choice under claiming apprentice Reyan Lewis, and clocked a tidy 1:18.4 after fractions of 23.1, 46.3, 1:11.3 to complete eight wins from 52 career starts.

Marquesas ridden by Prince Holder showing a return claimed the second spot as a 4-1 chance with another 4-1 chance El Profesor (Aaron Chatrie) in the third spot.

It was a crucial victory for Nunes’ title drive and he responded thus when he spoke with The Supreme Racing Guide: “He is a good Open Allowance horse and he dropped back down to the class [Overnight] but he [ Bruce Wayne] was saddled with top weight, so we called for the services of Reyan Lewis to slip two kilogrammes to get him closer to rivals. But he is a soldier…you know you have most valuable players (MVPs) in football games and cricket, Bruce Wayne is the MVP of my stables because he does everything. He runs five furlongs round, he goes to 10 furlongs, he goes up to Graded company and performs, he runs in Open Allowance and Overnight Allowance. He is such a good soldier for the Nunes stables, and I will give him a great hug for being such a solid performer.”
