No spectators No problem
Presenting sponsor of the Jamaica Premier League (JPL), Digicel, is giving hope to football fans as they welcome the start of the JPL football season.
Football fans can get unrivalled access to the SportsMax to watch all the live games and enjoy an exclusive digital experience.
While empathising with football fans who will not be allowed to enter the match venues, chief marketing officer for Digicel Nasha-Monique Douglas is encouraging everyone to watch the games on their smartphones. She urged, “Download the SportsMax app and get instant access to scores, highlights and the latest news.”
She continued, “We know that you cannot afford to miss even a second of the action. This is why all the games will be available live and on-demand in the SportsMax app. Fans will also enjoy expert commentary and all the highlights throughout the rounds.”
Douglas, herself a big football fan, is looking forward to seeing the league’s over-300 players back on the field where they are at their best. The decision to resume club football is another example of Jamaica’s resilience in battling the novel coronavirus pandemic, while enabling the phased, orderly reopening of sports activities in controlled environments.
Douglas stated, “While we are delighted about the resumption, the approval comes with great responsibility. We, therefore, urge everyone to adhere to all the regulations around staging the matches.”
After more than a year on the sidelines, Digicel is hailing the kick-off on Saturday as “a major comeback for football”.
In December 2020, Digicel signed on as the presenting sponsor of the redesigned Jamaica Premier League through sponsorship of approximately $200 million for three seasons. At the centre of the partnership is a broadcast agreement with SportsMax to deliver exposure to the league through live and delayed broadcasts, expert analyses and coverage via subscriber and a free-to-air TV partnership.
