Cops searching for man accused of sexually molesting 5-y-o sister

Police have launched a manhunt for a 29-year-old man accused of sexually molesting his five-year-old sister.

His two-year-old niece, whom family members initially feared he had also molested, is now in hospital under observation.

Senior Superintendent Stephanie Lindsay, head of the Constabulary’s Corporate Communications Unit told OBSERVER ONLINE that three operations had been carried out in an effort to locate the accused.

“The police are investigating the matter and CISOCA (Centre for the Investigation of Sexual Offences and Child Abuse) is working on it. I know that they are searching for this person,” Lindsay said on Monday evening.

The alleged perpetrator’s mother is, however, wishing for his death.

“What mi wud like fi see happen is fi see him dead. Mi baby ah five-year-old ah suffer inna hospital. She ah feel pain eena har chest and her upper body,” the mother told OBSERVER ONLINE at a hospital in western Jamaica late Monday evening.

She had finally managed to eat something earlier in the day, she said, after losing her appetite last Thursday when her daughter told her a story she will never forget.

The woman took to social media on Sunday to share the traumatic experience that has ripped her family apart. The incident, she said, took place last Wednesday.

“Water gone three day and mi get up five o’clock inna the morning a wash. When mi look in her panty mi see slime,” the mother said in the video.

She sought an explanation from her five-year-old daughter.

The child, the woman said, told her that her brother had touched her with his finger. The mother said she confronted her son who claimed nothing had happened. The incident was reported to the police and CISOCA.

“Her maiden gone, she have infection and him mash her up,” said the mother in the video.

Child Protection and Family Services Agency (CPFSA) director for Western Jamaica Eric Vassell confirmed that they received a report Sunday night and the agency went into the area on Monday morning with the aim of trying to locate the children.

CISOCA officers visited the house while CPFSA called the family.

The procedure in these cases, he said, is to first locate the children and then take them for a medical check-up. The next step is to go to court to seek a child care protection order. If the need arises, the children will be placed with a family member or in State care, Vassell said.

“Two investigations will take place. One with the police who will be searching to apprehend the perpetrator and we need to look at the well-being of the children. Whilst both investigations are taking place, more often than not, the children will have to be removed,” he said.

The invisible watermark — AI-written text can now be identified, and what that means for your business
Every week this column shows what AI can do for a finance team. This week, a change announced just days ago: Claude now embeds an invisible watermark in the text it generates, which means AI-assisted work is becoming identifiable — and the businesses with nothing to adjust are the ones that never pretended otherwise.
