Briggy Benz urges caution during Easter
Jamaican-born, US-based deejay Briggy Benz is urging partygoers during the Easter holiday weekend to drive carefully and help in saving lives on our roads.
“We can only have a Holy Easter if we save our life and others. For sure, we would not want to put our loved ones in mourning, or our children whose dreams would be shattered because of the loss of a mother, father, sibling or relatives,” he said.
“I am, therefore, recommending that we do not drive under the influence of drugs; use seatbelts, don’t use cellphones while driving, or listen to loud distracting music; overtake only when it is safe and look out for pedestrians,” he continued.
According to the National Road Safety Council, during Easter holiday 2019, eight people were killed. In 2017 there were 10 fatalities over the four-day Easter weekend – the highest in nine years and second highest since 2001. In 2008, 12 persons died in crashes over that year Easter holiday.
Briggy Benz, born Raymond Grant, is promoting Living Testament, a collaboration with deejay Bittah Sosicka. The song produced by Jet Set Music Group was released June 11, 2021 while the video was first aired on April 1, 2022.
“It (song) came about through a natural vibes. It was an early morning Bittah and I were at Jet Set Recording studio in New York where we both live. The producer was playing the riddim and it struck our ears, so naturally we started out humming and that matured into words. The song is featured in Spragga Benz’s movie Second Chance,” he said.
Born in McIntyre Villa, Kingston, Briggy Benz attended Camperdown High School. His songs include Get Girls Easy, A Nuh Yuh Dat, and Shake Up Yuh Glass featuring Greg Hinds.
