Yesteryear returns to Montego Bay
MONTEGO BAY, St James – Following a one-year hiatus as a result of the novel coronavirus pandemic, Yesteryear, the highly esteemed retro party is scheduled to return to Pier 1 in Montego Bay on Saturday, July 9.
In January 2020, almost 2,000 patrons got their first taste of the RF Entertainment-promoted Yesteryear retro party in Montego Bay, where they were treated to pulsating 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s hits, played by Kurt Riley, Arif Cooper, and DJ Turbo.
Yesteryear promoters have decided to make up for the one-year absence and will be adding soca to the music genre during the coming staging of the old school party in July.
“Now we are back outside in full force and Yesteryear 70s, 80s, and 90s Mini Skirt Edition is now back at Pier I on Saturday, July 9, with some of the best DJs to give you retro hits after hits,” Lution Lewin of RF Entertainment told the Jamaica Observer West. “This Yesteryear is not to be missed as we will be transforming the venue and will be giving you a lot of surprises, lots of fun, and lots of non-stop dancing. And, to top it off, we will be including soca retro hits at this Yesteryear. So, save the date and tell your friends Yesteryear is back.”
Restrictions on entertainment were lifted as of Friday, March 18, 2022.
Prime Minister Andrew Holness made the announcement during his contribution to the 2022/23 Budget Debate in the House of Representatives on March 17.
The prime minister, however, reminded the public that events are regulated under various laws and administered by various entities, such as the municipal corporations and the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) from which permits and licences must be sought.
