66 new COVID-19 cases in Jamaica, five deaths reported
KINGSTON, Jamaica – The Ministry of Health and Wellness reported 66 new COVID-19 cases and five deaths on Tuesday, April 26, bringing the infection total to 129,747 and total deaths to 2,954.
The new cases comprise 40 females and 26 males, with ages ranging from five years to 54 years.
The cases were recorded in Kingston and St Andrew (24), St James (19), Westmoreland (six), Hanover and St Catherine (five), St Ann (three), Trelawny (two), and Clarendon and Manchester (one).
Portland, St Mary, St Elizabeth and St Thomas recorded no cases.
The deceased are:
An 83-year-old female from St Catherine
A 90-year-old male from St Catherine
A 74-year-old male from St Catherine
A 68-year-old male from Westmoreland
A 75-year-old female from Westmoreland
The deaths occurred between December 2020 and August 2021.
There were 56 recoveries in the last 24 hours, bringing the total to 83,200.
Currently, 22 people are hospitalised, five of whom are moderately ill and two critically
ill.
Jamaica’s positivity rate for the latest round of testing is 14.8 per cent.
