Five people arrested in connection with gun find in rural Jamaica
KINGSTON, Jamaica- As police continue their clampdown on illegal weapons, two 9mm pistols and 13 rounds of ammunition have been seized by lawmen in targeted operations in two separate incidents in St Thomas and Westmoreland on Thursday, April 28.
An operation carried out by detectives in 11 Miles, Bull Bay, St Thomas accounted for the seizure of one 9mm pistol containing 10 rounds of ammunition. The operation occurred between the hours of 6:00 am and 7:00 am. One man was arrested in connection with the find.
In another operation in Whitehouse district, Westmoreland, a Taurus Thunder 9mm pistol and three rounds of ammunition were seized by members of the Jamaica Constabulary Force. Four people were taken into custody in connection with that seizure.
Lawmen have since renewed calls for members of the public to report illegal weapons by calling Crime Stop at 311, Police 119 emergency number or their nearest police station.
