JDF urges public co-operation following altercation at Denham Town ZOSO
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) is today encouraging the public to co-operate with its members as they “ensure the safety and security of all citizens.”
This urging comes after a JDF service member was injured by a resident in the Denham Town Zone of Special Operation (ZOSO) on Monday. According to a release from the JDF, the incident took place while the service member attempted to conduct a search of the resident at a checkpoint.
The JDF said that during the attempted search, the service member was attacked with a sharp object which resulted in other members of the JDF attempting to detain the attacker. Other residents in the area reportedly became hostile with the law enforcers resulting in a commotion that was eventually brought under control.
Reminding Jamaicans of their commitment to execute their duties efficiently and professionally, the JDF urged citizens to co-operate fully with its members.
“The JDF continues to remind all Jamaicans of our commitment to our mandate and to the efficient execution of our duties and once again appeals to the residents of communities within which the security forces are required to operate to cooperate with our personnel as they seek to ensure the safety and security of all citizens within these spaces,” their statement read.
In the meantime, the JDF is asking anyone with information on the matter or any other issue of national security to call the JDF Tip Line at 876-837-8888.
