Still no motive in downtown Kingston double murder
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The police say they have yet to establish a motive for the shooting of three men, two fatally, on Church Street in downtown Kingston on Tuesday.
Dwayne Hall, 34, from Tower Street and Ladd Lane, Kingston; and Kirkland Damion Baker, 37, from Bayshore Park in Harbour View, St Andrew, were killed in the incident. The injured man is 24 years old.
Head of the Kingston Central Police Division, Superintendent Berrisford Williams, said the police are yet to find out the reason behind the attack or identify any suspect.
“We highly suspect it is gang-related and our theory right now is that it is a continuation of the Darkness/Genocide (gang) conflict that has been taking place and impacting the crime for the longest while,” Supt. Williams said.
Police reported that about 12:30 pm, a man pounced upon the three men and opened gunfire at them. He then reportedly escaped on a motorcycle on Port Royal Street.
All three injured men were taken to hospital where Hall and Baker succumbed to their injuries about 12:47 pm and 12:50 pm respectively.
The other injured victim immediately underwent surgery.
