#WorldChamps: Allen, Taylor safely through to 400m Semis
EUGENE, Oregon — Nathon Allen and Christopher Taylor have safely booked their spot in the semifinals of the men’s 400 metres in Eugene, Oregon.
Allen secured the third place spot in heat five of the event. He clocked 45.61 seconds to finish behind Botswana’s Bayapo Ndori, who won the race in a personal best of 44.87 seconds and three-times Olympic medallist, Kirani James of Grenada, who claimed the second place finish 45.68 seconds.
Meanwhile, Christopher Taylor, who lined up in heat two of the event, advanced to the next round with a time of 45.68 seconds. Taylor finished second behind the fastest man in the world this year, Michael Norman of America.
However, Jamaica’s national champion, Jevaughn Powell, faced the starter in heat three and had to settle for a fourth-place finish in a time of 46.42 seconds. Powell did not advance to the semi-finals of the event.
The semi-finals of the men’s 400 metres will take place on Wednesday, July 20 at 9:15 pm.
