107 new COVID-19 cases, eight deaths reported
KINGSTON, Jamaica – The Ministry of Health and Wellness reported 107 new COVID-19 cases and eight deaths on Thursday, September 1, bringing the infection total to 150,018.
The new cases comprise 59 females and 48 males, with ages ranging from 51 days to 97 years.
The cases were recorded in Kingston and St Andrew (25), St Catherine (19), St James (12), Manchester (10), St Thomas (nine), Clarendon (eight), St Ann (seven), St Elizabeth (six), Trelawny (six), St Mary (two), Hanover (one), Westmoreland (one) and Portland (one).
There were eight deaths over the last 24 hours. The deceased are:
A 95-year-old male from St James, a 74-year-old male from St Thomas, an 84-year-old female from St Ann, a 67-year-old from St Ann, an 81-year-old from St Ann, a 96-year-old from St Ann, a 59-year-old male from St Ann and a 75-year-old female from St Elizabeth.
There were 105 recoveries in the last 24 hours, bringing the total to 96,824.
Currently, 126 people are hospitalised, 35 of whom are moderately ill, three severely ill and three in critical condition.
Jamaica’s positivity rate for the latest round of testing is 25.4 per cent.
