MANCHESTER, Jamaica — Head of Manchester police, Superintendent Shane McCalla, has confirmed that the man who went viral on social media after making threats to abduct women and children in Mandeville was taken into custody a short while ago.

McCalla said the man was located on the outskirts of Mandeville and had been on the police’s radar from Monday morning when he was first spotted by officers.

In a 55-second TikTok video the man is heard saying “I am promising all of you that live in Mandeville that on Monday when school returns I will be taking all girl kids. I will be driving around and I will be taking your child. I will be taking all women and all girls, because we need them for an experiment. The devil needs them for an experiment….”

Subsequently the police made an appeal for anyone with information on his whereabouts to contact them.

Scores of parents and school administrators were among those in fear after the video went viral on Sunday night with many hoping that the police’s swift actions would lead to the man’s apprehension.
