Overnight Allowance a tussle between foreigners The Good Witch and Madelyn’s Sunshine

This year’s renewal of the $1.14-million three-year-old and upwards Overnight Allowance call for the Vassell “Jolly Man” Najair Memorial Cup has 11 horses competing over 5 ½ furlongs (1,100m). This event will be run tomorrow, Saturday, October 8, 2022, at Caymanas Park.

The Supreme Racing Guide takes a close look at each runner and their chances of winning below.

1. WILL THE CONQUERER: (4 gr g by American Dance – Palace Gold) – Won in claiming company on August 21. Will The Conquerer steps up in grade with good enough form but has no realistic chance of winning in Overnight as yet.

2. MADELYN’S SUNSHINE (USA): (3 dk b/br f by Joe’s Son Joey – Madelyn’s Finest) – This foreigner has won three races from four starts on local soil. Madelyn’s Sunshine defeated Power Ranking by three lengths on September 10, going five furlongs round in a quick 59.3 to reach this level. Madelyn’s Sunshine is capable enough to run these into the ground.

3. DUNROBIN: (9b g by Blue Pepsi Lodge – En Vogue) – Based on current form, Dunrobin cannot be recommended for a winning run.

4. PRINCE MARSHALL: (4 ch g by War Marshall – Princess Shine) – A nice sort who has worked hard to get to this level. Prince Marshall is not expected to win, but a good run from a good horse is anticipated.

5. UNRULY BOSS (4 ch c by Bern Identity – Force Factor) – Finished fifth behind Dejae’s Boy and The Good Witch over six furlongs (1,200m) on September 17. With The Good Witch present, Unruly Boss’s chance of winning becomes a slim one.

6. ARTESIA: (4 g f. Sensational Slam – Runaway Julie) – Finished fourth behind Runaway Algo, Oneofakind, and Ras Emanuel over 7 ½ furlongs (1,500m) on September 25. With the trip more to her liking, Artesia could improve a spot or two.

7. THE GOOD WITCH (USA): (5 b m by Tale of the Cat – Witch Craft) – Has yet to win a race in seven starts. The Good Witch, however, has run some encouraging races in this class. On September 17, she was just beaten by a short head by Dejae’s Boy over six furlongs. The God Witch should have no problems with the distance and could run the expected favourite close.

8. RAS EMANUAL: (10 b h by Bern Identity – Pleasant Princes) – Continues to defy his age with notable efforts. Ras Emnauel should run well for a minor place.

9. SPARKLE DIAMOND (USA): (6 ch h by Include – Mytnz Connection) – Has not lived up to expectations, winning six times from 20 starts. Sparkle Diamond has been plagued with injuries, but once he is healthy and sound, he should run a decent race.

10. MAGICAL MOOD: (4 ch f by Fearless vision – The Lady Scored) – Is going to be left behind.

11. SWEET MAJESTY: (4 b f by Soul Warrior – Bitter End) – Cannot win this one.
