Accompong National ID programme to be rolled out soon
Accompong Maroon Chief Richard Currie says within a matter of weeks, the Accompong National Identification programme will be rolled out.
Currie, in a post to his Instagram page on Tuesday, says registration for Phase One of the programme will commence on October 25.
“All previously registered Maroons whose names appear on the 2021 Maroon electoral list will receive a free identification card,” Currie shared.
He added that Maroons, locally and overseas, will receive further instructions on October 25th, 2022 on how to apply for their Accompong ID.
Currie noted that anyone who can trace their ancestry to the Maroon heritage, culture and bloodline will also have an opportunity to “qualify for a status within the constitutional fold of the Sovereign State of Accompong.”
According to the social media post, applications for the Accompong Maroon National Identification program will be followed by a vetting process by a trained team of Maroon customs and naturalisation delegates – which includes interviews and a mandatory background check – before a Maroon status can be granted and identification is given.
