INTEGRITY came out on top of 11 teams in the 20th staging of Innovative Systems Limited’s RJYC Fishing Tournament at the Royal Jamaica Yacht Club (RJYC) at the weekend.

The teams competed over two days, starting Friday morning, in full-day activities and in landing the most eligible fish by weight. At 6 pm on Saturday, Integrity copped the top prize of $350,000 with 196.9 points while the Great Escape tallied 189.7 points, getting the second prize of $150,000.

Third place went to Daddy’s Dream with 70.2 points and a cash prize of $65,000.

Day one went to The Great Escape with 133.4 points while day two went to Integrity with 151.2 points. The Great Escape also took home the Heaviest Wahoo prize; PASStiime secured the Heaviest Kingfish and the Heaviest Barracuda prizes; and Daddy’s dream got the award for the Most Bottom Fish. Top Boat under 39 went to Daddy’s Dream; and Raymond Webb Jr was named Top Junior Angler.

Innovative Systems Executive Chairman Garth Walker says the company was happy with the event and its outcome.

“We are happy with the professionalism of the teams and all involved,” he said. “Congratulations to the teams and all the awardees. Generally, all sport contributes to nation-building, and it is wonderful to be a part of this year’s staging. We hope to see more growth in this avenue that will allow more sportsmen and women to hone and perfect their skills.”

Innovative Systems committed $500,000 to the event.

RJYC Commodore Brandon Samms had similar sentiments to Walker’s.

“We are elated with the success of the event,” he said. “The teams displayed true sportsmanship and mastery of the seas, even with less-than-ideal weather conditions.

“Through this event, we were able to engage even more of our members and their guests. So, we are happy about that and hope to build on our success in the future.”
