GRAMMY-NOMINATED reggae singjay Kabaka Pyramid and Canadian rapper Michie Mee headline the relaunch party of Hotbox Jamaica at Bonham Spring in Exchange, St Ann, this evening.

Hotbox Jamaica is a ganja vacation destination that is reintroducing itself to the tourism and entertainment market with a new home and updated attractions for visitors seeking an authentic Jamaican experience.

Kabaka Pyramid said he will be performing songs from his new album, The Kalling, which recently received a reggae Grammy nomination.

“I’m really looking forward to seeing the location and performing my new album material,” said Kabaka Pyramid. “As a herb defenda I always love an opportunity to support ganja industries and the normalisation of herb culture in Jamaica and worldwide.”

Miche Mee (given name Michelle McCullock) was born in Jamaica and migrated to Canada at a young age. Formerly part of the duo Miche Mee and L.A. Luv, she was the first Canadian rapper to be signed by a major American label — First Priority/Atlantic Records — in 1988.

She has appeared in films including Too Deep and My Baby’s Daddy.

The Hotbox concept first emerged in Canada around 2007 as a consumption lounge for cannabis users. In 2015 it began operations in Negril as a bud and breakfast for adventurous tourists seeking an authentic Jamaican vacation. Theresa Kozak of Hotbox Jamaica noted that the country’s unique ganja culture is a big part of the experience offered at the destination.

“Jamaica has a special relationship with ganja and it is one of the most identifiable things about the island. Hotbox Jamaica celebrates that and we’re providing an authentic experience of Jamaica’s ganja culture,” said Kozak. “Importantly, we’re also creating a safe environment for our guests to access organic, sun-grown Jamaican ganja from a licensed producer and providing the right setting for them to enjoy it.”

Guests at Hotbox Jamaica now have access to a three-bedroom greathouse and the Irie River, which snakes through the lush vegetation of the 100-acre property. Hotbox Jamaica also provides ganja farm tours and curated, cannabis-themed experiences and events such as weddings and parties.
