Anancy & Pinnochio, a comedy by Jambiz International, entered its second week yesterday at Courtleigh Auditorium in New Kingston. It continues today with shows at 5:00 pm and 8:00 pm.

The play stars Glen Campbell, a mainstay of Jambiz International productions for 30 years. He also appeared in Oliver & Pinnochio, the company’s hit comedy from the 1990s that starred Oliver Samuels.

Campbell, whose previous Jambiz International credits also include Straight Jacket and Windscream Posse, plays the cunning Anancy. His foil is Courtney Wilson, another Jambiz regular, who plays Jahpetto, a master carpenter.

Sharee Elise as Aunt Lulu, Quera South as Aziza and Desmond Dennis and Kadeem Wilson, who alternate as Pinnochio, complete the cast.

Lenny Salmon, a senior director of Jambiz International, expects Anancy & Pinnochio to have a limited run, possibly ending in late January.

It is the follow-up to Mo, Jo & Flo, Jambiz International’s first play following an extended shutdown of local theatre due to Covid-19. Campbell and Wilson also had lead roles in that production which opened in August and ran for two months.

Anancy & Pinnochio is scheduled for the Courtleigh Auditorium Tuesdays to Fridays at 8:00 pm and Saturdays and Sundays at 5:00 pm and 8:00 pm.
