Faulkland FC finally scored their first win in the Jamaica Premier League, edging fellow promoted team Chapleton Maroons 1-0 at Jamaica College’s Ashenheim Stadium as the first round came to a close.

Neil Clarke’s first goal of the season extended the St James club’s perfect win record over Chapleton Maroons to four after beating them three times in the Jamaica Football Federation Tier II League last season, including the final.

It was also a losing start for former Reggae Boyz head coach, Brazilian Clovis DeOlivier of the Chapleton team.

Chapleton had the better of the scoring chances in the game that lived up to expectations, a duel between the teams occupying the last two places in the points tables, but failed to make them count.

Clarke took full advantage of a mistake by a Chapleton defender in the 77th minute, taking the ball away before dribbling into the box and beating goalkeeper Mikhail Harrison.

In the first game of the doubleheader, Portmore United came from a goal down to earn a 1-1 draw with Molynes United.

Shanario Dennis gave Molynes United the lead in the 22nd when he powered home a shot high into the Portmore goal after forcing his way between two defenders.

Emelio Rousseau earned a point for Portmore United when his powerful left-footer from well outside the area in the 57th minute ended up in the far corner of the goal.
