One injured after gunmen spray bullets in Westmoreland
WESTMORELAND, Jamaica– Police in Westmoreland are trying to determine why two gunmen opened fire at three people at Llandilo in Savanna-La-Mar in the parish on Monday night.
Residents had to scamper for cover as the gunmen fired a barrage of bullets.
The police said when the shooting ended, one man was shot and injured, and other persons narrowly escaped being hurt.
The incident reportedly occurred at around 9:30 pm, while the three people were conversing at a location. They were pounced upon by two gunmen who opened gunfire at them.
They ran in different directions, and it was later discovered that one man was shot in the right ankle.
The police were alerted, and the injured man was assisted to the hospital, where he was treated and admitted in stable condition.
Police later reported that 19 spent casings were retrieved from the shooting scene after it was processed. No suspect has yet been identified in connection with the attack.
