EduFocal announces strategic partnership with Design Privacy

EduFocal Limited announced that it has entered into a strategic partnership with Design Privacy Limited, a provider of data privacy consultancy services, to collaborate on the creation and delivery of a groundbreaking “foundation data protection course” and related e-learning content.

The partnership combines Design Privacy’s expert knowledge in data privacy laws and regulations with EduFocal’s expertise in e-learning content development and platform management. The collaboration aims to bring high-quality, relevant, and engaging data protection courses to the Jamaican market, specifically medium-sized and large organisations to better understand and comply with data protection laws and best practices.

“EduFocal will be specifically focused on the training aspect in this partnership and we will be providing two things, which include the learning management system (LMS) to deliver the course along with the development of the course itself , both of which are now ready to be delivered to the different clients. We are also reponsible for providing customer support as we help them to navigate any issues they may have with the system. We have started to onboard clients and we do have some others in mind, about 20-30 which we are also hoping to close,” said Gordon Swaby, CEO of EduFocal, speaking to the Jamaica Observer on Wednesday.

Edufocal, through its newly reorganised learn and business divisions, delivers online educational and training needs to schools, government agencies as well as large and medium-sized entities.

The recent partnership, Swaby said, also aligns well with EduFocal’s strategic growth plan to strengthen its bottom line. Up to the nine months ended last September the edu-tech company incurred losses of $16 million against the backdrop of increased revenues totaling $156.6 million.

“We have been very deliberate about our growth from day one, having indicated that we are not just a tech company and I think that should be more evident now. We have a number of other key announcements to make in the next 20-30 days and I think that over that period it will become clearer about what exactly it is that we do and where our focus lies,” he further said.

Under the terms of the agreement, Design Privacy will be responsible for developing the course content, providing expert guidance on data privacy laws, and participating in the marketing and promotion of the courses. EduFocal, on the other hand, will be responsible for developing the e-learning content, providing the e-learning platform for course delivery, managing technical aspects of course delivery, marketing and promoting the courses, and also distributing the e-learning content.

The companies in a news release have both said that they were looking forward to a successful partnership, one that will ultimately enhance the data protection landscape in Jamaica, providing accessible and comprehensive educational resources to individuals and organisations alike.
