#Champs2023: Kennedy starts final Champs campaign on high
KINGSTON, Jamaica – Reigning Carifta Under-20 400m champion and Edwin Allen’s Delano Kennedy has started his final ISSA/GraceKennedy Boys’ and Girls’ Champs campaign on a high after a comfortable victory in heat one of the Class 1 Boys” 400m on Tuesday.
Kennedy clocked a time of 48.61 seconds, the third fastest qualifying time. He was followed by Calabar High’s Shadane Smith in 48.82 seconds.
The Jamaica College pair of Malique Smithband (48.34) and Mark Anthony Miller (48.40) were the two fastest qualifiers on the day.
Emmanuel Rwotomiya (48.89) and Amal Glasgow (49.13), both of Kingston College, won their heats ahead of St Andrew Technical’s Chevoney Reid (49.11) and Holy Trinity High’s Hosani Ennis of (49.52) respectively.
The other winners are Daeshawn Salmon (49.88) of Manchester High and St Elizabeth Technical’s Jasauna Dennis (49.31).
The semi-final of the Class 1 Boys’ 400m is scheduled for Wednesday at 11:15 am.
