Since he shot onto the musical radar last September, dancehall artiste Valiant has continued to churn out hits one after the other within the dancehall space.

The hit-maker, who is currently burning up the charts with Rasta, Expensive, Speed Off, Narcissistic (with Stalk Ashley), and C.A.L. (Cut All Losses) has joined the line-up of the inaugural staging of WiFETE, scheduled for April 15 at Sabina Park.

In an interview with the Jamaica Observer last Friday, Valiant said, “I’m excited to be on a lineup with such amazing performers. What you can expect is a committed performance, high energy, fun, fan engagement, and good vibes.”

Previously announced performers for WiFETE include soca king Machel Montano, Bunji Garlin, Nailah Blackman, and Fay-Ann Lyons.

WiFETE is billed as the only show to enlist the top three Trinidad Road March song winners, and also the only show to see Machel Montano perform — who returns to Jamaica with his entire band, including dancers, for the first time in eight years.

Another first is the inclusion and performance of Bunji Garlin, the winner of Trinidad Carnival’s Road March with Hard Fete, alongside his entire band.

Nailah Blackman completes the Trinidadian soca trio. She is the only female performer in the line-up and first runner-up for Trinidad Carnival’s Road March song of the year.

The addition of Valiant was strategic shared the concert’s promoters.

“We recognised that guests travelling to the island for Carnival in Jamaica, even staunch soca lovers, still have an expectation that they will hear a bit of dancehall during the road parade. As festival promoters, we thought it would be a great touch to add Jamaica’s biggest dancehall act, Valiant, to the show to give our guests a taste of Jamaica’s culture and music,” said Kibwe McGann, a director of WiFETE.

For his part, Valiant said: “I will always give my all when I’m performing, and WiFETE will be the same.”
