Molynes hunt fourth-straight JPL win against Dunbeholden

In-form Molynes United will be hunting their fourth-consecutive win against a Dunbeholden team, just like them, fighting for a play-off spot with slim hopes.

Match time is 3:00 pm at the Ashenheim Stadium.

In the other matches at 3:00 pm, Humble Lion tackle Vere United at Effortville Community Centre; Tivoli Gardens host Cavalier at the Edward Seaga Sports Complex and Harbour View play Portmore United at the Ashenheim Stadium at 5:30 pm. Arnett Gardens host Chapelton Maroons at 7:30 pm.

On Monday there will be a double-header at the Catherine Hall Sports Complex where Faulkland take on Waterhouse FC at 5:00 pm before Montego Bay United play Mount Pleasant at 7:30 pm.

With the top six play-off positions taking shape with six rounds remaining, Dunbeholden and Molynes United are sitting in eighth and ninth spot on 26 and 25 points, respectively, and will be hoping to close the gap on the team with the bullseye on its back — sixth-placed Waterhouse FC on 31 points.

Head Coach Alex Thomas seemed to have found the winning formula for Molynes United as they brushed struggling Vere United (4-0) and Chapelton Maroons (3-1) and showed that they are in good nick beating top team Mount Pleasant (2-1). They are bubbling with confidence, especially with striker Jason Wright in good form with seven goals and along with the Nelson brothers — Nicholas and Jermy. Molynes won their first encounter 1-0.

Meanwhile, another team with play-off ambition, Portmore United in seventh spot on 28 points with a game in hand, will be aiming to beat fourth-placed Harbour View on 36 points and improve their chances of making the play-offs.

Portmore United seemed to have hit the right note at the right time and are looking for their third-consecutive win, but it will be a difficult task against champions Harbour View aiming to consolidate their play-off spot. They have won four of their last five games.

Second-placed Cavalier on 37 points could go top of the league when they travel to a struggling Tivoli Gardens in 11th spot on 19 points. While Cavalier are preparing for the play-offs, Tivoli Gardens, which have not won in their last eight games, will be anxiously looking over their shoulders trying to stay well clear of the relegation battlers. They are nine points above the dreaded drop zone.

Fifth-placed Humble Lion on 33 points should consolidate their play-off position when they play 12th-placed Vere United on 16 points and looking to stay clear of the relegation zone.

It’s a game Humble Lion are fancied to win, but Vere United will be fighting hard as they know they are just six points above the drop zone and that can change anytime.

Leaders Arnett Gardens on 39 points are expected to maintain their lead atop of the table when the play a team at the other end of the spectrum, Chapelton Maroon in 14th spot on eight points.

While Arnett are eyeing a run at the title, Chapelton Maroons are planning how are they going to return to top-flight football for the 2024-25 season.
