STETHS 37-0 at lunch after Edwards’ unbeaten century for May Day
SANTA CRUZ, St Elizabeth – Replying to May Day High’s 202 all out, champions St Elizabeth Technical High School (STETHS) were 37-0 at lunch on day two of the ISSA/Grace Headley Cup final on Wednesday.
May Day owed their competitive total to a fighting, unbeaten century of 102 from Jamaica Under-19 all-rounder Reon Edwards.
Resuming Wednesday morning on 55, with May Day 147-7, Edwards guided the lower order expertly and monopolised the strike to help his team add another 55 runs, and at the same time celebrated his century.
The right-hand batsman, who bowls lively left-arm pace, hit five sixes and five fours from 223 balls in his 283-minute knock.
For STETHS, medium pacer Kevani Graham ended with 3 -24 and Javed Simpson took 2-45.
Left with 40 minutes to bat before lunch, STETHS openers Sean Roye, on 22 not out, and Tyrek Bryan, on 8, coped in composed fashion with the pace of Edwards and Nashane Meade.
