Lyles looking to excite at Racers Grand Prix
American sprint superstar Noah Lyles is looking to excite Jamaican spectators at the Racers Grand Prix with a very fast time in the men’s 200m event.
Lyles, who is the reigning world 200m champion, arrived in the island Thursday afternoon ahead of Saturday’s meet, which will be held at the National Stadium in Kingston.
“It is good to be back here and it is nice to be in another warm place,” said Lyles upon his arrival at the Norman Manley International Airport on Thursday.
“I know this is a fast place and so I want to run fast too… if it weren’t for him (Usain Bolt)…..and can I get some of that magic,” he said in reference to Jamaican retired sprint legend Bolt.
Lyes is the third fastest man in the history of the 200m with a time of 19.31 seconds, which places him behind Bolt’s world record of 19.19 and Yohan Blake’s 19.26.
He is down to compete against the likes of Great Britain’s Zharnel Hughes, Canadian Brendon Rodney, Alonso Edward and the Jamaican pair of Rasheed Dwyer and Adrian Kerr.
