Man charged for breaches of Firearms Act
TRELAWNY, Jamaica – A 35-year-old man was arrested and slapped with multiple charges following an incident in New Forrest in Trelawny on Monday after he allegedly pulled a handgun on another man during a dispute over land.
Kemoi Sutherland, otherwise called ‘Kem’, a farmer from the parish, is facing charges of unauthorised possession of a prohibited weapon and assault at common law, after he allegedly drove his motor vehicle to the entrance of the man’s farm, removed a
handgun from his waist band, pointed it at the complainant and threatened him before driving away.
A report was subsequently made to the police and Sutherland was taken into custody during a targeted operation.
He was charged after a question and answer session.
His court date is being finalised.
