Tia Clayton breaks meet record in Vinzenza, Italy
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Tia Clayton broke the meet record in the women’s 100m at Tuesday’s 5th Meeting Brazzale at Campo Scuola in Italy, running 11.23 seconds (-0.1m/s),equalling her season’s best mark as she upstaged a strong field that included her sister Tina.
Tia’s time beat the previous meet record 11.38 seconds set last year by Alessia Pavese and saw Jamaicans occupy the top four positions in the final. Krystal Sloley was second in a personal best 11.27 seconds, the fourth time this season she was running a new lifetime best, while two-time World Athletics Under-20 champion, Tina Clayton was third in 11.32 seconds. Serena Cole was fourth in 11.47 seconds.
Tia had won her first round heat in 11.52 seconds (-0.2m/s); Sloley won her heat in 11.71 seconds (0.1m/s); Tina ran a wind-aided 11.47 seconds (2.3m/s) to win her heat while Cole ran 11.58 seconds (0.5m/s) to win her heat.
