‘Backra’ charged for illegal gun, ammo and possession ganja
PORTLAND, Jamaica – A 30-year-old labourer from Portland has been charged with possession of a prohibited weapon, unauthorised possession of ammunition and possession of ganja after vegetable matter resembling marijuana was seized on August 23.
He is Jowayne Montaque otherwise called ‘Backra’, of Fairy Hill in the parish.
Reports from the police are that about 5:15 pm, lawmen were on operation in the area when a premises was searched. During the search, a firearm and ammunition along with vegetable matter resembling ganja were allegedly found.
Montaque was subsequently arrested, taken into custody then charged in the presence of his attorney.
His court date is being finalised.
