Jamaican batsman McKenzie signs sponsorship deal with India’s Sareen Sports
Jamaica and West Indies batsman Kirk McKenzie, along with his management company, GGSM Sports, have agreed to a two-year cricket-gear contract with Sareen Sports (SS) Limited of India.
McKenzie, who is one of the region’s young talents from whom much is expected, said he was very excited about the deal.
“I’m still getting comfortable with my blades, but the quality is very high, light pick-up and perfect weight and balance,” he said about the bats which he has already started using in the Caribbean Premier League and during his West Indies debut.
“I made my double century for the Windies Academy with an SS blade, so I feel like they were meant for me to use. When I heard they agreed to sponsor me I was ecstatic.”
McKenzie broke into the West Indies Test squad earlier this summer, during the home series against India, after a successful first-class season with Jamaica Scorpions and Windies Academy teams.
Brad Gillings, the managing director of GGSM Sports, said the agency “continues to strive for excellence” in representation of athletes across in various sporting professions.
He added: “We are grateful for the continued support and partnership we have been able to establish with Sareen Sports Limited, which sponsors other clients, including cricketers Brandon King, Jermaine Blackwood, and Odean Smith.
“We are very pleased with the sponsorships we’ve been able to negotiate for our clients with sport brands across the globe. Our goal now is to continue providing our clients with the platform and services to secure similar partnerships with consumer goods brands within North America and the Caribbean.”
