Stomp The Rhythm waltzes to victory at Caymanas Park
Jockey Shamaree Muir produced a brilliant stretch run with Stomp The Rhythm to win Divisional One of the O&S TACK ROOM feature at Caymanas Park on Sunday.
Stomp The Rhythm, who is trained by Vincent Atkinson, went off at odds of 5-2 and won by one and a half lengths ahead of 10-1 shot Luksol with jockey Jerome Ennis aboard. Brinks with Omar Walker astride finished third in the event by three lengths.
Muir was very delighted with the victory.
“Firstly, I must [say] thanks to the trainer and owner for believing in me and giving this ride. I know that I was on a better horse but I know that I had to come out here and give a good ride. I was always confident and so I just went out there and get the job for the connections,” he said.
“I know that this horse is going place because he is a very good horse and he is also very sound at the moment and so I just hope that he continues to stay healthy for the remainder of his career,” Muir added.
Baton Rouge, with jockey Paul Francis in the saddle, created a mild upset to win Division Two of the event by seven lengths. The five-year-old Baton Rogue is trained by Ryan Darby and owned by Preston Munroe.
Jockey Tevin Foster recorded his 200th career winner at Caymanas Park when he piloted home Hoist The Mast to victory in the first event over 1,100m. Hoist The Mast is owned by Raymond Cameron and trained by former champion trainer Anthony Nunes.
Foster, who has been riding at Caymanas Park since 2018, was very elated with his achievement.
“I am feeling very overwhelmed with this because to achieve 200 wins took a lot of hard work and dedication from me over the past five years. I have been through a lot in racing, I had a lot of ups and downs, so to achieve this marker means a lot to me,” he said.
