One to watch: Official launch of Bob Marley’s One Love restaurant
Bob Marley’s One Love restaurant at Sangster International Airport (SIA) was a bit behind its originally planned March opening but all that’s now in the past. Following a soft opening on July 24, plans are in high gear for the official launch later this year.
“There were supply delays for some of the specialist equipment we were importing but we’re delighted that everything is now up and running, with fantastic feedback from passengers to Bob Marley’s One Love restaurant,” chairman & CEO of Margaritaville Caribbean Group, Ian Dear told the Jamaica Observer’s LetsTravelCaribbean.com.
The restaurant is operated by the group and its subsidiary, Montego Bay-based Express Catering Limited. It has already generated 70 new jobs and quite a buzz on social media. Expect the noise to get louder in the months ahead. The launch is expected in late October to early November.
“As you might expect, we’re planning to make the official launch of the restaurant a spectacular celebration as a fitting tribute to the iconic legacy of Bob Marley. You can expect great vibes and a few special guests. That’s all I can say for now. Watch this space!” said Dear.
For now, SIA’s departing passengers can enjoy “a Jamaican and international menu infused with fresh Caribbean and Ital dishes”, and the flavours of the restaurant’s authentic Jamaican pimento wood grill. When you stop by be sure to check out the multi-layered, fresh herb garden display, homage to Bob’s love of Jamaica’s fresh natural produce, which he farmed at his childhood home in Nine Mile.
