#ICYMI, festival-esque parties are all the rage, and we can thank New Wave director Lindsey Lodenquai for helping Jamaicans embrace this entertainment experience.
The event and social media platform’s flagship annual event, Block Party, returned on Sunday, October 8 for its 2023 staging, and was the perfect fusion of art, food, music, and, of course, good energy.
Summit Kingston — formerly the Knutsford Court Hotel — was transformed into a multi-tiered festive space which included a food village powered by Grace, a pop-up shop for New Wave and Very Culture-branded merch, ample room to Guzu Bounce and Drift, and a stage that welcomed the likes of Amanyea, Friday Night Cru, Tessellated, Ras-I, and Jesse Royal. The event, which kicked off at 5:00 pm, wrapped with reggae artiste Protoje engaging the crowd as Creative Director Samo Kush-I shot scenes for the Fernando Hevia-directed music video Legend.
